Vocabulary and grammar (90 godzin)
These two areas are not taught in separation. Class activities depend on the particular topics discussed and possibilities for combining the teaching of vocabulary and grammar.
Vocabulary topics
1.Outward appearance of people
2.People: character and behaviour. Traits of character, emotional characteristics, abilities,
outlook on life. A new kind of man.
3.Man and his health: illnesses, health care.
4.Man and sport: kinds of sports morning gymnastics, organised sport (swimming pool, stadium, gymnasium).
5.Man and nature: seasons of the year, weather, nature in poetry and prose.
Grammar topics
1. Simple sentences with nominal predicates; adjectives as complements - the use of the comparative degree, long and short forms of adjectives
2. Impersonal sentences and their types (neopredelenno-lichnye, bezlichnye predlozheniya); their use to express people's physical and mental states. Comparison with Polish impersonal constructions.
3. Temporal constructions: marking the date, beginning and end of action; repetitive, preceding, following actions.
4. Expression of location (continued from year 1): po, v - na, iz - v, ot - k, nad, cherez -
skvoz', mimo; verbs with the prefixes pere-, pro-.
5. Expression of causality: the prepositions ot, s, iz-za, blagodarya, iz, po. Subordinate clauses introduced by potomu, tak kak.
