Practical Russian language with elements of translation 3202-1DUOR1E
Classes aim at further improvement of language and communicative competence with the use of basic language skills (listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing). This will be achieved by means of:
- translation and interpreting, both with and without the use of dictionaries,
- introducing students to individual work with dictionaries,
- vocabulary building by preparing presentations of individually selected articles in Russian,
- shaping the skill of natural speaking on up-to-date issues,
- shaping the skill of writing in a given style,
- strengthening habits in terms of phonetics, intonation and stress,
- strengthenng and expanding the knowledge of practical grammar.
Classes = 240 hours
Individual preparation for each class: 1.5 hours = 360 hours
Preparation for tests: 30 hours
E-learning: 3 hours a week = 90 hours
OVERALL = approx. 720 hours

Learning outcomes
Students:
- consolidate vocabulary in topics from 1st degree studies,
- improve the skill of putting language correctness into practice,
- acquire the skill of producing elaborate written and spoken texts,
- learn to produce scientific texts, which is useful to write the MA thesis,
- will be able to to implement the acquired language skills in order to produce written and spoken texts,
- will acquire the skill of translating from and into the Russian language, taking into consideration the contemporary Russian language.
After completing the 240-hour course students will be prepared for the use of the Russian language at the level close to C2.
Assessment criteria
- continuous evaluation (preparation for classes, in-class participation, at least one presentation in each semester, home assignments): 20%
- tests throughout the semester (translation into the Russian language): 35%
- final written testing (translation into the Russian language): 35%
- other factors (including the compensation for absences): 10%
