Prerequisites (description)

The lecture aims at providing the student with basic information on the history of knowledge, learning, philosophy and sociology of science, indispensable in understanding the historical process, which led from the ancient times to the modern day and resulted in the development of contemporary learning with its methods, traditions and chief institutions.

Has basic knowledge concerning the placement and significance of the humanities within the system of knowledge, and of their thematic and methodological specificity.
Has knowledge of the relations between book and information science with other branches of learning and disciplines belonging to the field, which pursued studies belong to.
Knows and understands basic methods of analysis and interpretation of various cultural products proper for selected traditions or research schools in the field of book and information science and the disciplines proper for library and information science.

Evaluation on the basis of the following criteria:
- attendance (three absences admissible in each semester)
- passing of one test in each semester.
