1. What is an Information Science?
2. History of Information Science, its relationships within the system of science its relationships to information practice
3. The basic concepts of Information Science: data, information knowledge, documents and information objects, information user, information system, information process.
4. Current research areas in Information Science: knowledge organization, information architecture, information retrieval, infobrokering, information behavior and user studies, informati0on education and culture, information use, bibliometrics, informetrics, webometrics.

LECTURE (SECOND SEMESTER): Student understands and can implement basic knowledge on information science and its place within the system of scientific disciplins
Student can analyse and compare research areas within information science

LECTURE (SECOND SEMESTER): The course is in a form of a lecture, supported with presentations.
