Lithuanian Translation Workshop 3020-BA3TLI
The aim of the course is to expand the students' active and passive lexical resources in the field of the official language and to develop the skills and efficiency of translating simple official documents into Lithuanian and Polish.
The syllabus includes written translations of utility texts (e.g. official letters, applications), basic personal documents (including copies of record files, ID card and student ID, documents confirming graduation), documents of an informative nature (e.g. report, certificate ) and normative (resolution, regulation).
Time estimated for acquiring learning outcomes:
a) contact hours: 30h (~ 1,5 ECTS);
b) current preparation for classes: 7h (~ 0,5 ECTS).

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- knows the basic principles of translating official letters and documents and applies them in practice (K_W14);
- has an appropriate stock of vocabulary, terms and phrases used in the official style of Lithuanian and Polish (in terms of translations) (K_W14);
Skills:
- independently translates utility letters and basic documents from both languages, taking care of the precision and linguistic correctness of the translated texts (K_U12);
- takes care of the compliance of the translation content with the original and for this purpose uses the information available in specialist sources (book and internet editions) (K_U01, K_U03);
Social competence:
- is aware of compliance with the rules of professional ethics;
- understands the need to actively participate in their own learning and the need for continuous professional development (K_K01).
Assessment criteria
The student is obliged to regular attendance (2 absences per term).
Aspects of assessment:
a) current preparation for classes and activity during classes;
b) written translation of selected document
c) final paper
