Bible: Texts And Their History 2900-JSL-BIB
During the course the following issues will be discussed:
1. The question of the canon: the various biblical canons;
2. Deuterocanonical literature; apocrypha, pseudepigrapha;
3. Literary genres included in the Bible: historiography, legal texts, prophetic writings, poetry, wisdom literature;
4. Basic theories and approaches to the Bible: Traditional and scientific views; maximalist and minimalist “schools”; source criticism and redaction criticism; historical criticism and archaeological evidences;
5. Content and structure of individual biblical books in the historical-literary context of the times in which they were created.
