The limit of a function at a point and basic methods of evaluating the limits.
Exponential functions, natural logarithm, the exponent, trigonometric functions.
The limit of a sequence, continuous compounding interest .
Derivative of a function, equation of the tangent to the graph of a function,
differentiation, derivative of the inverse function.
Local extrema, monotonicity, convexity, sketching of the graph of a function.
De l'Hospital rule.

Learning outcomes
The student knows fundamental methods of evaluating the limits, knows how to apply the natural logarithm and to use continuously compound interest.
The student knows basic interpretations of the derivative and differentiation
techniques.
The student knows how to use the differentation methods to determine local extrema of a function and sketching the graph of a function.
The student can apply de l'Hospital rule in finding limits .
Assessment criteria
Grading based on two written exams.
