Instructions on writing a diploma thesis, procedure, delivery, deadlines, requirements.
Thematic areas of diploma thesis:
1. Sources and mechanisms of debt financing (of standard type): loan, leasing, factoring, bond issue, others.
2. Sources and mechanisms of debt financing (of unconventional type): non-bank loans and microloans, guarantees and guarantee programs.
3. Sources and mechanisms of equity financing: seed capital funds (financing start-ups), venture capital funds, business angels, organizational structures of financial vehicles, mezzanine financing.
4. Sources and mechanisms of non-repayable financing (subsidy programs) – funds for business activity, investments in the enterprise sector and local government units - under EU programs (in the financial perspectives: 2014-2020, 2021-2027).
5. New trends in business financing – crowdfunding, mixed financing (financial instruments with debt write-offs and subsidies).
6. Structures and mechanisms of obtaining financing (New Connect stock market, Warsaw Stock Exchange, public / private trading, funds of funds (holding funds according to the meaning of financial instruments component in the EU cohesion policy, regional development funds).
7. Other issues (in consultation with the instructor of the seminar).

After completion of the course the student:
in terms of knowledge:
• Knows and understands at an advanced level the terminology relating to the discipline of economy and finance, and in complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences), in particular for financial management (K_W01).
• Knows and understands in-depth the principles, procedures and practices relating to financial activities of various types of organizations, using the theory of economy and finance and complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences) to recognize, diagnose and solve problems related to financial management in organizations, management of financial institutions and their strategies (K_W02).
• Knows and understands at an advanced level economic theories and models regarding the functioning of organizations and the entire economy (K_W03).
• Knows and understands at an advanced level legal regulations regarding the functioning of the organization and the entire economy (K_W04).
• Knows and understands to an advanced degree technological, social, political, legal, economic and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on financial decisions in organizations, the functioning of the organization and the entire economy, in particular in the field of legal regulations and practice regarding business activities (K_W05).
in terms of skills:
• Is able to use the theory of the discipline of economy and finance and complementary disciplines (management and quality sciences, legal sciences) to recognize, diagnose and solve problems related to financial decisions in organizations and management of financial institutions, using the appropriate selection of sources and adapting existing methods (K_U01).
• Is able to correctly interpret technological, social, political, legal, economic and ecological processes and phenomena and their impact on the financial decisions in organizations, functioning of the organization and the entire economy, using the appropriate selection of sources (K_U02).
• Is able to independently and collectively prepare analyses, diagnoses and reports on the financial management in organizations, management of financial institutions and their strategies and present them communicatively, also in English – using IT and communication tools (K_U03).
in terms of attitudes:
• Is ready to assess and critically approach situations and phenomena related to the financial management in the organizations, management of financial instutution and their strategies (K_K01).
Assessment criteria
Credit for determining the topic and for preparing an outline of the diploma thesis along with a list of primary scientific literature.
Bibliography
Scientific literature – appropriate to the topic of the bachelor's thesis.
