The course covers the following topics:
1. Introduction to human resources management. HRM versus new theories of a firm. Evolution of personal policy in companies. HRM versus knowledge and competences management.
2. Human resources management and strategic management.
3. Organizational structure and culture. Ethical aspects of HRM.
4. Intellectual capital and its measurement.
5. Social capital and its measurement.
6. Team management. Team roles, collaboration, leadership, coaching and delegation.
7. Recruitment and selection part I. Building image of a good employer, programs supporting recruitment, preparing and evaluating CV and motivational letter. Internal and external recruitment.
8. Recruitment and selection part II. Interviews, tests, assessment centre.
9. Systems of training and development.Systems of employees’ assessment.
10.Systems of motivation and remuneration.
11.– 13. Human resources management in practice. Case studies. Summary.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
Upon completion of the course a student:
- knows what is the role of human resources management in strategic management of organization
- has knowledge about intellectual and social capital and methods of their measurement
- has knowledge about systems of recruitment, training, evaluation and motivation
- understands social processes accompanying work, including teamwork and the role of leadership
Skills:
Upon completion of the course a student:
- is able to prepare an essay on a selected topic
- is able to conduct a case study and prepare a presentation to show the results
- is capable of preparing and assessing CV and motivational letter
- has a skill of taking interview
- is able to assess systems of human resources management in an organization
Social competences:
Upon completion of the course a student:
- is able to cooperate in team while preparing a project.
Assessment criteria
A condition to obtain a credit is to get minimum 50 points, out of maximum 100. Those points can be obtained for taking active part in the videoconferences, on the e-learning platform and on the class forum (max 30 points), presenting a case study prepared as a teamwork (max 30 points) and an essay on a chosen topic regarding human resource management (max 40 points).
