Theoretical Background of a Learning Society 2300-TPSU
The curriculum involves such areas as: early approaches to the learning society (by D.Schoen, R. Hutchins, A. Husen) and the current models; differences between basic concepts:the information society, the learning society, the knowledge based society; the specifics of a learning society; the development of the learning society in Poland and abroad; the benefits and threats connected with the implementation of the idea; the role of adult educators within the learning society; the fast changing pace of modern society and the role of education in that area; key competences that individuals need to acquire in order to face the challenges within the learning society; the facilitation of adult learning; new technology and education – challenges and opportunities.

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the classes a student will:
1.know main authors and theories of the learning society;
2. understand the essence of the contemporary approaches towards the learning society
3. know main manifestations of the learning society in Poland and abroad;
4. be able to identify and analyze benefits and threats connected with the implementation of the idea of a learning society;
5. be able to analyze his/her own experience based on the need for lifelong learning
6. perceive the need for his/her own involvement in the activity of different learning communities
Assessment criteria
1. A test in the basic terms and concepts of the Learning Society.
2. A short composition with an analysis of a given field covered during the classes.
