Methods of Working with Children and Families 2300-OMP/S-OW

Goals of the course:
- Get to know and learn various methods of individual and group work which are the basis for social work and social pedagogue everyday practice
- Get to know and learn methods of intervention: procedures of working with individual as well as with group or community
- Practice the interpersonal skills
- Understand and discuss the need of interdisciplinary and comprehensive approach to social work
Main issues:
- The concept of method and method types, the basic theories and approaches to working with individuals, families, groups and organizations
- The process of introducing and managing the change in the social work practice: the intervention as an element of organized action cycle; assessment and undertaking activity; techniques of the change monitoring and assessing
- The procedures of working with an individual client focused on: cognitive, behavioral and emotional change
- The procedures of working with families and community systems focused on cognitive, behavioral and emotional modification
- Working with families in crisis: methods of support, therapy and intervention
- Designing programs of working with families, groups of children and groups of adolescents
