Prerequisites (description)

The aim of the classes of contemporary philosophy is to continue the order of history of philosophy. The programme encloses the later philosophy, the mid-XIX and XX centuries.

Learning outcomes

Student:
- understands the specific nature of contemporary philosophy
- orientates himself in contemporary themes and philosophicak trends;
- understands the importance of the discussed authors in the wider historical and cultural context;
- understands concepts and notions characteristic for the given philosophers;
- is able to reconstruct ideas of the given author;
- is able to confront different ideas and views of diffrent philosophers;
- is able to take part in a discussion concerning the philosophical problems;
- understands how philosophy relates to other humanities;
- adequately uses the philosophical conceptuality;

Assessment criteria

The basic method of the class consists in the discussion of the given literature, e.g. reconstruction of a text, elucidation of concepts and the necessary context by the teacher, and finally, the further discussion around philosophical problems, ideas and their import for the contemporary man.

Students will be evaluated according to:
- their presence and preparation to the class;
- the intellectual activity during the class (sensible questions and comments)
- final exam (in written form);
