MS2-Specialisation Module No 2: The child in the family and the community 2300-NZ1-MS2-PSW
This module focuses on the situation of the child within the family and broader social environment. The structure of the content draws from pedagogy, social work, social policy, and prevention—fields essential for recognizing, understanding, and addressing issues that may arise in these contexts.
• "Courses on Family Studies" examine the sources and directions of changes in family life, including its structure and functions. Emphasis is placed on the transformation of procreative roles and the main risk factors threatening family functioning (e.g., crises, divorce, alcohol abuse, violence), along with their consequences.
• "Problem Prevention" courses address risk behaviors in children and adolescents, outlining actionable strategies tailored to specific issues.
• "Social Policy" courses present social problems on both micro and macro levels, emphasizing methods of resolution.
• "Introduction to Social Work "provides an overview of social work as a discipline that supports the caregiving and educational roles of pedagogues.
• The course titled “Children of the World – Research and Aid Projects” explores global assessments of children’s quality of life and the observance of children's rights.
An important component of the module is the “Institutional Pedagogical Practicum” (30 hours), which enables students to become familiar with institutions and organizations dedicated to supporting children across various aspects of their development and life circumstances.
