MD/PS– Methodic Module–Social and educational work with the child and family 2300-MD/PS

The aim of the module is to equip the student with a basic tools to work as a pedagogue, educator, family assistant,specialist in working with children and family in need.
During the course, students will learn many different methods of individual group and in the family work used in socio-educational services among others: fairytale therapy, drama, relaxation techniques, creative visualization, streetwork, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy (maintypes and trends) , ecological family therapy, communication therapy, solution-focused approach, sociotherapy, video interaction training and others.
Students acquire knowledge and practice skills in working with children and families with many problems, in a crisis, with the problem of violence, mental illness, experiencing mourning. They also learn the methods of group psychological help and experience the specificity of the group process.
Thanks to the practical form of classes, students also have the opportunity to practice the discussed methods of work and use the acquired knowledge and skills in practice - preparing presentations, theoretical essays, conducting group exercises, participating in various tasks, writing own program of working with a group and creating a support plan of working with a child and/or family in need.
Students acquire and deepen their skills of cooperation, communication, group work, planning activities and their evaluation.
The classes are complemented by 60-hour practice in the family or out-of-family care, during which students have the opportunity to practice the acquired skills. They also undertake reflection on their own strengths and weaknesses in the context of their future professional work.
