For example, the solutions used in some other European countries are considered the relationship between economic factors, technological and political shaping media system. Discussed organizational structure and operating principles of key media institutions and mechanisms that regulate their behavior in the context of historical and social conditions.
Students must devote 50 hours of study time to achieve sufficient study effects.
1th The concept of media system - definition, elements, characteristics of the media system. Classification and typology of the media. Types of media systems by Peterson, and Schramm Siebert. Models of media systems by Hallin and Mancini.
2 - 3 Analysis of the liberal model on the example of Great Britain and Ireland
4 - 6 Analysis of the democratic corporatist model on the example of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavian countries, including Denmark.
7 - 9 Analysis of polarized pluralism model, the example of France, Italy and Spain
10-13 media systems in transition countries - Poland, Hungary, Ukraine.

The analysis will be conducted on the basis of four criteria for classifying media system in countries with established democracies: the development of media markets and in particular the degree of development of the press and readership, the political parallels the media;
journalistic professionalism, the scope of state intervention in the media system. It will also include the characteristics of today's media markets in different countries (Information Newspapers, magazines, electronic media and the Internet) to discuss media ownership forms including the role of public and commercial media. In this way students will be familiar with the research tools for synthetic analysis of media systems.

The student understands the mechanisms and factors that determine the functioning of mass media in European countries, distinguishes between forms of media ownership (private, social, state), correctly compares and classifies different models of systems.
