Verbal Etiquette 2101-M-D3ETJE-OG
The lecture topics include such issues as politeness as a game, politeness strategies, historical changes in etiquette, the impact of late 1989s, the forms and functions of the etiquette, the democratization of polite manners, generational differences in the behavior of courtesy, politeness and courtesy of other Polish cultures .

After completing the course the student:
KNOWLEDGE
1. knows the concept of etiquette (politeness) and its place in the axiological triad: ethics - aesthetics - the etiquette.
2. knows the ways of naming the relationship e.g. Mr. / Ms, private, titular.
3. knows parenthesis courtesy; knows forms and formulas, and forms of greetings and farewells.
4. knows the forms and functions of such acts of courtesy, politeness as: question, compliment, apology, congratulations, toasts, condolences, greetings, invitations.
5. Is aware of the differences between the general etiquette and a business etiquette.
6. knows Polish tradition of politeness and intercultural differences.
7. Is aware of the recent evolution of politeness, courtesy of differences in the behavior of young, middle and older generation.
8. sees the relationship between the contemporary etiquette, its democratization processes, customs, Americanization of life, globalization and the dominance of mass culture.
SKILLS
1. Student can shape own image as a well-behaved person.
2. can consciously influence the effectiveness of communication with polite behavior.
3. Can place a suitable form to address the recipient in various social situations and different professional and social hierarchy relationships.
4. Understands the need to respect the difference of other cultures polite manners.
