Photoreport Theory 2101-L-W4TEFO-FPRW
The course aims to teach reading and preparing of the reality photography with particular emphasis on photojournalism, photo-doc, photo-essay. Contemporary photography genres will be analyzed and their place of publication. In the practical part students will be introduced how to work on the topic: inventing, finding the character, creating a narrative, editing it to the form suitable for publication in today's media.

After completing the course, students:

1. know contemporary Polish and foreign reporters
2. know genres of reality photography
3. is familiar with the aesthetics of a single frame and burst
4. is familiar with contemporary photojournalism market (jobs, places of publication, ethics)
5. knows the ideological background of modern photojournalism
skills
1. author knows how to make own statement about the nature of press photography
2. knows how to specify the subject of reportage, to find the hero and guide the subsequent narrative
3. knows how to prepare material for publication in the printed press and online
4. knows how to prepare a portfolio giving him the chance to work in professional press and on photography market
5. is able to transfer knowledge and skills to other areas of photography where the main hero is a man
Assessment criteria
Realizing photo tasks 80%, active attendance during classes 20% Preparing 4 photo works on given subjects (single photo, 2 photo reportage, photo-essay)
