Contemporary World (after 1945) 2101-L-W2SWWS-PRMM
The course aims to present the most important political and cultural events after 1945, with particular emphasis on international conflicts (such as the Israeli-Arab war, the war on the Korean Peninsula , War in Vietnam, the Soviet intervention in Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Afghanistan), also "Polish months" (e.g. June 1956 year, W. Gomulka coming into power, Martial Law), Autumn of Nations 1989 and the collapse of the Soviet Union.

After completing the course, student:
KNOWLEDGE
1. knows the story of "Cold War" and the etymology of the term
2. knows what the detailed arrangements of the conference: Tehran, Yalta, Potsdam
3. knows the causes and consequences of major armed conflicts of the period of "cold war"
4. know what was the course of the Cultural Revolution in the U.S. and Western Europe in the 60s'
5. knows the history of postwar Poland
SKILLS
1. student can describe the most important period of armed conflict - "cold war"
2. knows how to analyze and interpret historical source.
3. knows the Berlin crisis.
4. can describe the most important historical figures after World War II (such as Konrad Adenauer, Mao Zedong, Kim Il Sung, Winston Churchill, Fidel Castro, David Ben Gurion, Augusto Pinochet, Pol Pot, Nikita Khrushchev, etc.).
5. can mentioned in chronological order as well as discuss the Arab-Jewish War
OTHER COMMPETENCES
1. understands the importance of history in the profession of journalist. Without knowledge of the basic historical facts it is impossible to understand some of the political divisions and disputes concerning the axiological sphere.
