History of Poland of the 20th Century 2101-L-W1HPWI-PRMM
Scope of course includes the presentation of Polish political history since 1914, and reappearance of Poland in the international forums during the First World War, through the interwar with an emphasis on issues of struggle for independence and the country borders (diplomatic, political, military), the time period of parliamentary government as well as after 1926, the period of struggle for the Polish cause during world War II, the postwar years, the period of People's Republic of Poland and the change in the year 1989 until the time of democratic changes in the last two decades.

KNOWLEDGE:
1. student knows the history of the Poland and the external international relations in the twentieth century.
2. knows the basic periods of the Polish history in the twentieth century (political, economic and military context)
3. is familiar with consequences of developing the fundamental decisions taken by the Polish authorities and international bodies
SKILLS:
1. Ability to work independently on basic bibliographic material.
2. The student acquires the basis for self-study and draw conclusions related to the fundamental events of Polish history
3. Students can choose a topic related to recent Polish history and identify the contemporary contexts in this area.
OTHER COMPETENCES:
1. Students learned basic types of historical literature: monographs, biographies, memoirs and election documents
2. Student understands what is the responsibility of the journalists in context of recent Polish history.
3. can draw conclusions of a general nature in his work as a journalist
Assessment criteria
Oral examination based on lectures and selected reading: textbook modern history, monographs, biographies, as well as memoirs and edited volume of selected documents.
