Aesthetics of Photography 2101-L-W1ESFO-FPRW

Subject matter relates to specific activities of the photographic image, its diversity and formal correctness. Discussed are the rules of composition to create an image in the frame and the relationships between its elements, the means of artistic expression used in photography and the ability to present and exploit properties of motifs.
The aim of the course is to learn the secrets of the aesthetics of photography, that in a controlled and conscious way to convey what is important so that the photographic image was a harmonious system of interesting content and remarkable forms.
All topics are richly illustrated with selected examples from the history of photography and contemporary photography.
Furthermore the theoretical classes prepare students for the skillful use of knowledge in exercise of the Aesthetics of photography and professional practice related to photography.
Each lecture is richly illustrated with photographs and information materials in the form of a multimedia presentation.
Within exercises is performed and discussed a variety of tasks within the scope of classic photographic themes. The course aims to improve and develop professional skills through the skillful use of principles of photographic technique and aesthetics of photography.

Work on the executed task is iterative (design, pre-implementation, work analysis, correction and final realization of tasks) which enables students to achieve the positive effect on their creative activities, develop their imagination and develops a technical workshop.
Exercises provide an opportunity to use and apply in practice the knowledge acquired in the lectures of subjects: classical aesthetics of photography and photographic subjects.
The most interesting students works are presented at exhibitions and shows organized by the Press Photography Department.
