Information technologies of media 2101-L-D3TIMC-DPRM
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the state and the determinants of IT development in relation to the media, forms of recording information in digital form (multimedia). Discussion of the basic principles of operation, modern IT tools (hardware and software). Discussion of the principles of database design, software tools on the example of IT Customer Relationship Management - CRM) and IT security issues (hackers, viruses, dishonest employees, firewall, identity, security, digital wireless communications, cryptography, electronic signature).

After completing the course, students:
KNOWLEDGE:
• know the current status and conditions of IT use and development in relation to the media,
• are familiar with forms of recording information in digital media (multimedia) of its compression, archiving, processing,
• know the functions and terminology of IT tools for daily use hardware, software and digital communications,
• know the essence of computer programming,
• know the basics of computer networks,
• know the principles of database design, software IT tools,
• know the problems of IT security (hackers, viruses, dishonest employees, firewall, identity, security, digital wireless communications, cryptography, electronic signature).
skills:
• selection of appropriate information technology to work as a journalist,
• define hazards and their mitigation in the field of IT security
Other competences:
• ability to specify the requirements for infrastructure and hardware functions and software,
• ability to critically evaluate the available ICT solutions for the media.
