More-than-human perspectives in social sciences 1600-SZD-SPEC-SW-SOC
For some time now, there has been a growing interest in non-human actors in social life. From the groundbreaking works of Bruno Latour and Donna Haraway, to numerous books by other authors associated with the 'new materialism', to studies of interspecies sociality inspired by symbolic interactionism, environmental historiography and contemporary discussions of transhumanism and the anthropocene, a sizable library of books and articles has emerged over several decades, all sharing the observation that human societies are never created solely by humans. During the class, we will look into this archive together, selecting from it those items that are most relevant to the research projects being developed by those attending.
