Treści kształcenia: 9. Earth atmosphere. Hazards to stratosphere (reactions involving stratospheric ozone, „ozone hole“ phenomenon) and troposphere (atmospheric pollution – smog, exhaust gases, atmospheric deposition of dust and aerosols, „acid rains“). Chemistry of global climate (energy resources, greenhouse gases, global warming prognoses).10. Hydrosphere: types, resources and origin of waters. Types and sources of hydrosphere pollution. Selfpurification. Causes and results of natural and antorpogenic eutrophisation. Countersteps against degradation of water resources and eutrophisation. Role of sink nad landscape in natural waters protection.Waste treatment technologies and water reservoirs recultivation. Water as environment and carrier of toxic (algal blooms) and pathogenic (bacteria, viruses and protists) microorganisms: sanitary and epidemiological challenge. Methods of detection and estimation of threats to proper functioning and ecological quality of surface waters.11. Terrestial habitats. Impact of plant communities, bedrock and water balance on physical and chemical properties of soils. Soil organic matter – composition and properties, processes of mineralisation and humification. Role of microorganisms in transformations of mineral and organic compounds in soils. Antorpogenic changes of soil surface and means of degraded soils recultivation. Soil degradation processes (erosion, floods, landslides, decrease in organic matter content – desertification, increase in soil density, loss of biodiversity, chemical contamination and salination).12. Biosphere (biodiversity loss, invasive species, GMO, epidemiological and demographical threats).

Learning outcomes
After completing this course students will be prepared to estimate environmental impacts of potential risk factors. Students will aquire necessary abilities to solve social conflicts concerning environmental protection issues. Students will gain knowledge required for quality management of natural resources protection (consulting, opinion and expertise issuing).
Assessment criteria
Lecture ends with an exam in form of a test.
Excercises:
1. laboratory part - ends with a test,
2. field part - ends with a presentation.
Final note is a weighted arithmetic mean of these two notes.
