Environmnetal analysis 1400-ZS-ANS-c
On the lecture the following issues will be raised: fundamentals of analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis. Basic knowledge of analytical and bioanalytical analysis (sample, quality, good laboratory practice, standard). Specific conditions required in the environmental laboratory. Sources of errors in trace analysis. On-field sampling of soil, plants and water. Basic information about mineralization accelerated solvent extraction, drying, sieving, liofilization, total content determination, filtration, acidification and dilution. Selection of the proper analytical method according to the sample type and expected concentration of analyte. Methods of sample stabilization. Certified reference materials. Application of chromatography, electrochemistry and spectrometry in the environmental analysis. Validation of analytical results and their comparison with respected norms. Retrospective studies in the environmental monitoring. Analytical aspects of wastes utilization (extractability test, save deposition of wastes, stability of wastes) and wastes management. An integral part of the subject is a laboratory in the field of instrumental analysis and preparation of laboratory samples for analysis. The student performs exercises in the field of decomposition of solid samples (mineralization in a microwave oven), filtration of suspension from water, determination of selected analytes by spectrometric methods (e.g. UV Vis) and electrochemical methods (biosensors) and methods of separation of analytes (solid phase extraction, liquid and gas chromatography ). Time-consuming: Exercises 7 x 4 hours = 28 hours of work with the teacher and 12 hours of own work (learning and writing a report) and 30 hours of lecture to be listened to and 3 hours of discussion with teachers during the obligatory meeting.

Type of course
Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
The student should possess the ability to assess the scope of applicability of the method of analysis, critical evaluation of the results obtained, the determination to research and plan its implementation and the ability to use standard analytical procedures and comparing the results with normative requirements
Assessment criteria
LABORATORY - Attendance on laboratory classes is mandatory, all classes have to be passed. The final evaluation exercise will be the arithmetic mean of the partial (pass classes and evaluation of the report). The laboratories are organized in a remote system.
LECTURE - lecture in asynchronous mode with consultation on the Meet platform.Oral exam with each student separately. The final grade will be the result of the exam grades (open or closed questions) and the assessment of the student's activity in discussions. Lecture in an asynchronous system with two obligatory meetings.
