The course covers the following topics:
1)Purpose and scope and possibilities of drilling techniques;
2) manual drilling;
3) Hammer drilling;
4) The construction of the borehole;
5) Cementing casing;
6) Drilling fluids
7) Characteristics of drilling methods used in the recognition of deep geological structure:
a. Small diameter drillings
b. Normal diameter drillings;
c. Large diameter drillings.
8) Borehole exploitation.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student:
- Knows the scope and possibilities of drilling techniques
- Knows the range of geological and technical assumptions for the project of the borehole
- Can perform geo-technical design of the borehole.
Assessment criteria
The grade for the exercises is based on the points obtained during the negotiations. The principles of negotiations will be discussed during the introductory classes. Conditions for entering the negotiations: attendance at classes (1 absence is allowed) and passing all the reports performed at each meeting. At least 50% of the possible points must be obtained during the negotiations. The grade for the lectures is based on the points obtained from the written colloquium during the last class. The final grade for the subject is based on the sum of the points from the exercises and lectures. A positive grade can only be obtained if at least 50% of the points are obtained from both the exercises and the lectures.
