Mining of mineral deposits 1300-OMEZ4CW
Course is the link between the knowledge characterizing the mineral deposit as a natural object and methodological knowledge required in the development of the mineral deposits. Lectures program includes basic methods of mining of mineral deposits. The detailed rules of mining of deposits are discussed in relation to regulations and legal requirements.
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge of the methods of mining to the extent necessary for an understanding of the impact of geological conditions of occurrence of minerals in the subsurface, its physicochemical characteristics and quality parameters for selection of deposits that are available for the mining. In the section - the preparation of the project to build the mine are discussed legal regulations resulting from the Geological and Mining Law specifying the mode of applying for a license to mining activities and the conditions for granting it. In the section on the performance of mining operations are discussed various methods of mining, rules for the implementation of mine workings and their purpose, principles of operation of mines and mine geologists responsibilities related to geological service the mines, to the extent provided geological and mining law. For deposits mined by opencast methods are discussed the rules for access to the deposit, overburden removal and storage, including the principles of forming "anthropogenic deposits", operating systems and pits drainage (dewatering). In the case of deposits exploited by underground methods are discussed ways to share the deposit bed, different operating systems, and methods of eliminating free spaces after extraction of mineral reserves.
The lecture is especially helpful for those wishing to work in the widely understood sector of mineral raw materials.

Learning outcomes
After mastering the knowledge conveyed within the course the student knows:
- the stages of mine design, the procedures and requirements of the formal and legal documentation of the stages of mine design;
- the basic rules of mining of different types of mineral deposits,
- the principles of rational and sustainable management of mineral deposits,
- the obligations of geological mining service in area of the rational and safe operation.
The student is able to make the characteristics of geological data necessary for:
a) definition (recognition) of the mineral deposit
b) documentation the geological conditions of a mining operation
c) assess the impact of the mining operation and extraction of minerals on the environment
