Physics A Tutorials 1200-1FIZAC2
The aim of the classes is the mathematical illustration of problems presented on the lecture from Physics A. Topics of classes are directly connected with the topics of the lectures.
-Electrostatic field of systems of electric charges,
- electric dipole: permanent and induced.
- Gauss's law. Dielectrics, polarization.
-Conductors, capacitors,
-electric circuits, Kirchoff's laws.
-Magnetic field, due to moving charge, due to wire with current. Magnetic moment.
-Motion of a charge in magnetic field.
-Magnetic properties of matter; diamagnetism, paramagnetism, ferromagnetism.
-Electromagnetic induction law, self-induction,
-alternating currents.
-Maxwell's equations, wave equation, electromagnetic waves. -Maxwell's equations in a material medium.
-Propagation of electromagnetic waves in a material medium; reflection, refraction, diffraction, interference, coherence, state of a wave polarization. -
Interaction of an electromagnetic wave with molecules; emission, absorption, index of refraction

Prerequisites (description)
Learning outcomes
The student will:
KNOWLEDGE:
1. know how to describe and explain physical phenomena taught during the lecture
2. know how to describe these laws in the language of mathematics
ABILITIES:
1. be able to formulate problems in physics and to solve them
2. be able to apply the appropriate mathematical methods to solve the problem in physics
ATTITUDE:
1. cooperate with other students while solving the problems together
2. ask questions dealing with physics
3. explain a problem in physics to his colleagues
Assessment criteria
The classes take place in small groups. The students are taught how to solve the problems, discussed during the lecture, by use of the known mathematical apparatus.
Attending the classes is obligatory. The students get credits on the base of four partial tests written during the semester. The students, who haven’t got the sufficient number of points gathered at all these tests have to write the additional final test at the end of the semester.
Student gets the credit for grade on the base of the results of written tests
Practical placement
no practises
