During the individual work every student will become familiar with fundamental laboratory techniques: crystallisation, distillation, extraction, chromatography as well as basic apparatus used in the laboratory of organic chemistry.

Prerequisites (description)

The student should be familiar with the program chemistry from high school. In order to facilitate the use of academic organic chemistry handbooks it is recommended to read the following book: "Podstawy chemii organicznej" by Hornby M., Peach J.

Learning outcomes

After finishing the course the student should know:
- the rules of the safe work in the organic chemistry laboratory,
- how to use the basic equipment and to perform common laboratory techniques,
- how to carry out the synthesis of simple organic compounds and purify synthesized compounds.

Assessment criteria

Completion of all individual experiments, approval of written reports and tests.
