Specialistic proseminar, 2nd level of Astronomy 1104-4A28
Seminar is devoted to review of up-to-date papers on theoretical and observational astrophysics.
Particularly, papers on compact stars (white dwarfs, neutron stars), sources of x-ray radiation (bursters, accreting black holes, interstellar medium) and papers presenting observations of celestial objects from space (e.g. cosmic microwave radiation) are presented.
The main instructive aim is to acquaint students with methods of preparing and presentation of lectures. Seminars are prepared by students based on papers published in refereed journals or are available as preprints written in English.
Seminar is available to students of the 1st and 2nd grade of Astronomy II courses.
Seminars are supervised by members of the scientific staff of the Warsaw University Astronomical Observatory

Learning outcomes
After taking part in the seminar, the student:
1) reads scientific papers with proper understanding
2) prepares presentation in electronic form
3) delivers in attractive manner his presentation
4) is capable to listen and understand lectures presented by other
5) takes part in discussion following the presentation
