BA Seminar: Subversion and Transgression in American Popular Culture 4219-ZS021
During the seminar students will continue to work on the BA thesis project outlined in the proseminar, which will present a critical analysis of examples of subversion and transgression in American popular culture. The BA thesis prepared in the upcoming semester will critically examine selected cases of subversion and transgression in American popular culture, focusing on an in-depth analysis of a selected text of culture either contesting the existing social order or imagining ways of transgressing social norms and regulations, using the methodology of critical cultural studies and queer theory. The aim of the course is to guide students through the various stages of the research process and to face the difficulties associated with conducting research (organization of the work process, preparation of a work plan, presentation of conclusions etc.) and through the process of writing. The course will be divided into two stages: in the first stage we will analyze selected examples of texts that propose a critical analysis of American popular culture, and in the second stage we will focus on individual work on the BA thesis projects.
