Classes include three thematic blocks, each of which is led by a different lecturer or lecturers.
Block I: Contemporary issues in regional and local development
• Cities, metropolis and metropolisation
• Functional areas: metropolitan and problem areas
• Public policy and regional/local development
Blok II: Nowe podejścia teoretyczne
• Smart specialisation (theory and policy)
• Economic complexity & related variety
• Resilience and adaptability
Block III: Institutional and administrative framework of regional and local development
• Territorial division of the country, self-government and government administration structures
• Competences and tasks of the local government
• Local government finances - sources of revenues, expenses, budget, including civic budget
• Local policy and local elections

K_W01 , student knows and understands in a detailed way facts, objects and phenomena a well as scientific theories related to mechanisms of regional and local development as well as methodology empirical research in this field and terminology used in literature of the subject
K_W02, student knows and understands in a detailed way the main development tendencies and relations between regional and local studies, and other disciplines in the framework of social sciences, as well as knows opportunities and limitations resulting from interdisciplinary nature of research carried out in the field of regional and local studies; understands relationship of terminology used in the field of regional and local studies and terminology applied in other disciplines in the framework of social sciences.
K_W03, , student knows and understands in a detailed way significance of human as agent of research as well as significance of human, community and space as objects of research in the framework of regional and local studies.
K_W04, student knows and understands fundamental dilemmas of contemporary civilisation and economic, legal and ethical ramifications of professional activities related to regional and local studies, including principles of protection of industrial property and intellectual rights
K_W05, student knows and understands principles of creation and development of forms of individual entrepreneurship which makes use of knowledge in the fields of science suitable for regional and local studies
K_K05 student is prepared for creative thinking and acting in order to solve problems in the field of regional and local studies
