Diploma Seminar I 4030-DS1
Obligatory seminar conducted by a coordinator and potential supervisors of diploma thesis topics. Students will learn about a wide spectrum of research issues related to sustainable development. Students works independently on their topics with close cooperation with potential supervisors. During the seminar each student will present a topic and research methods that she or he is working on the master thesis.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge – a graduate knows and understands:
- wide range of research problems in the field of sustainable development and methods to solve them,
- the place of environmental policy and principles of sustainable development in social and economic life.
Skills – a graduate can:
- performs and describes individually a research problem,
- selects the appropriate methodology to solve a research problem,
- presents the results of her/his work in public.
Social competences – the graduate is ready to:
- improves her/his professional skills,
- is aware of the political and socio-economic determinants of sustainable development.
Assessment criteria
Presentation, attendance control and continuous assessment, eg. activity, punctuality, discussions, workshops, at student's request: individual mentoring and coaching.
The maximum number of absences allowed to be excused by the student: 2. More absences can be justified in accordance with the regulations in force at the University of Warsaw, e.g. on the basis of a medical certificate.
Type of examination: pass/fail.
Corrective examination based on additional work done.
