Knowledge of the classical Egyptian language 3600-7-EG1-WKJE(Z)
The first part of a two year Middle Egyptian course presents the grammar of the language used in Ancient Egypt mainly in the Middle Kingdom.
The course includes an introduction to the rules of the hieroglyphic writing and reading system, the morphology and the Middle Egyptian syntax of the non-verbal and verbal sentences.

- recognize and analyze the grammatical constructions of the Middle Egyptian;

- read simple Middle Egyptian texts;

- understand the meaning of the Middle Egyptian for the culture of Ancient Egypt.
Assessment criteria
Final oral examination; Middle Egyptian grammar and reading of an Egyptian text.
The positive assessment of the classes of the Middle Egyptian is required.
