Classical Egyptian language 3600-7-EG1-KJE(L)
This class is a practical extension of the first part of the two year lecture on Middle Egyptian grammar.
Their aim is to provide initial comprehension of the hieroglyphic system with its signs and to use in practice the rules of grammar learned during the lecture. Selected literary (The Shipwrecked Sailor, The Tale of Sinuhe), historical (from Middle Kingdom, and the 18th Dynasty) and religious texts will be read.

The student should:
Knowledge:
- read and write the hieroglyphs;
- recognize and analyze the grammatical constructions of the Middle Egyptian;
- have the basic knowledge about the translation of the Middle Egyptian texts;
Skills:
- read the Middle Egyptian texts;
- know how to use the reference works (dictionaries, grammars);
Competence:
- understand the meaning of the Middle Egyptian for the culture of Ancient
