Arabic Language in Legal and Economic Culture 3600-7-AR5-JAPG
The course aims to develop the productive and receptive skills in Modern Standard Arabic at a high level of proficiency through reading, translation, analysis and discussion on authentic texts (news and commentaries on law and economy, legal acts, trade documents, legal and trade counselling etc.), as well as lexical exercises, with particular attention to legal and economic vocabulary. The course responds to the needs of students who are learning MSA for professional purposes.

K_W02: has extended knowledge of particular problems pertaining to the cultures of the Orient or Africa (within the scope of culture and literature or language or culture and religion issues) in a comparative perspective
K_W04: has extended and deepened knowledge of Arabic
K_W07: knows and understands the local academic tradition (methods of analysis, interpretation and evaluation) in the context of Arab countries

K_U09: can compare and thoroughly analyze interrelations between selected literary texts and other works of culture (film, press, social writing) of Arab countries, and the issues of tradition and modernity
K_U11: can analyze the most important phenomena in the field of history, as well as the socio-political, linguistic or cultural context of Arab countries
K_U12: can evaluate, select and describe most important products of contemporary culture in Arab countries
K_U13: can select and translate into Polish most valuable literary works/writings of Arab countries
K_U15: has a good command of Arabic at an advanced level
K_U16: can behave in an adequate way, react verbally and mediate in communication in a selected socio-cultural context of Arab countries
K_U17: can choose and formulate a subject of an MA thesis, select and find sources in Arabic, refer to certain theories and other sources
K_U18: acquires the ability to describe in Polish and Arabic diverse aspects of Arabic culture, taking into consideration the intellectual traditions of Arab countries
K_U19: acquires the ability to formulate own opinions and conclusions in both writing and speaking in Polish and Arabic
K_U21: can proficiently use advanced electronic and internet tools in Polish and in Arabic
K_K01: understands the need to learn all one’s life, can inspire and organize other people’s process of learning

Assessment criteria
Attendance control. Max. two absences (4 hours) are allowed in a semester. In case of absence due to illness, a medical certificate should be submitted within seven working days from the last day of the leave specified in the certificate.
