History of the Arab World of the Classical Period 3600-7-AR1-HPA1
The course covers the history of the Arab world from pre-Islamic times to the Ottoman Occupation. The discussed questions will include: the Near East in late antiquity; the pre-Islamic Arabs; the emergence of Islam and the Islamic conquests; the Arabic-Islamic world under the Umayyad, Abbasid and Fatimid dynasties; the Spain and the Maghreb under the Islamic rulers. The problems referring to the history of Crusades and to the Mamluk institution will be presented in particular detail.
