The course focuses on improving the Hausa language skills at the intermediate level. Various forms of classes are aimed at acquiring vocabulary and idiomatic expressions as well as getting new knowledge of the language, culture and history. Students make the contextual analysis of vocabulary, searching for its cultural content.

Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
- has extensive knowledge of the Hausa language
- is aware of the complex nature of Hausa language, its place and significance in the cultural and historical context of Nigeria
- knows the meaning of the basic notions relevant for Hausa culture
- has rudimentary knowledge of translation rules from Hausa into Polish
Skills:
- has a good command of Hausa at the intermediate level
- can interpret the basic notions of Hausa culture through the analysis of language
- has a skill at formulating own opinions and conclusions in Hausa both in writing and in speech
- can use electronic and internet tools both in Polish and in Hausa.
Social competences:
- understands the need to learn foreign languages all one’s life
- can cooperate and work in a group as well as forge relationships and build social relations
- can establish relations and cooperate with Ethiopian people
- recognizes the need of dialogue between cultures
Assessment criteria
attendance control (a student can be absent max. twice during the semester; in the case of absence due to illness, the medical certificate excusing this absence should be submitted within seven work days of the last day of the leave specified in the certificate)
