ADJ: Qualitative data analysis with Atlas.ti 3500-ADJ-ADJ
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the methodology of qualitative content analysis - both the underlying theoretical and methodological assumptions and its practice: in the course, each participant will conduct their own analysis, working independently with the Atlas.ti program and taking into account the methodological assumptions learned throughout the course.
The theoretical background of the course includes an introduction to the key assumptions of qualitative content analysis, as well as a reflection on its various forms: the open, ethnographic version, and the one carried out with the help of a verified code key. The main part of the class will be devoted to discussing the methodology of computer-assisted content analysis, i.e.: selection of research topics, selection of data for analysis and the problem of representativeness, creation of a code key, and working with codes.
In the workshop part, the class participants will go through the steps of the analysis process using Atlas.ti software, carrying out a group research project: 1) preparation of data for analysis; 2) specification of research questions; 3) preparation of the code key; 4) coding process in Atlas.ti; 5) analysis of coded material using the analysis tools available in Atlas.ti software; 6) presentation of results.
