Social work - skills and processes 3401-PS12PUP2z
During the course the student acquires the competences (knowledge and skills) necessary in professional social work practice. The course consists of two parts. In the first one students are primarily acquainted with the basic assumptions of clinical social work, interpersonal communication (verbal and nonverbal), the process of helping, the therapeutic relationship and psychological phenomena such as resistance, transference, countertransference.
Second part of the course takes the form of workshops, which give students opportunities to practice their knowledge in three areas:
Interpersonal communication in social work
Helping relationship. Awareness and responsibility in the process of helping
Work with the resisting clients

Learning outcomes
The education in the framework of this subject will give the student knowledge of information which is particular of social work regarding the problematics of social function, social diagnosis, the construction of a helping plan, the undertaking of an efficient intervention and monitoring and feedback. The student will be capable of putting the acquired knowledge into practice in accordance with the existing ethical standards
