The course is to familiarize the student with the concepts and terms in the field of probation and legal acts regulating the work of probation officers. The student acquires knowledge about the theoretical and conceptual foundations of probation. The subject prepares the student to learn the types and purposes of supervision and supervision as well as the rights and obligations of probation officers, supervised and supervised. In addition, the student learns the methods of working in court guardianship as well as the difficulties and problems in the work of a probation officer. The subject allows students to familiarize themselves with the documentation related to the exercise of supervision and supervision, and to prepare the results of research on the state of court guardianship.

After completing the course the student:
• in terms of knowledge:
- knows and understands the legal acts regulating the work of probation officers;
- has an organized knowledge of the work of probation officers for adults and family probation officers;
• in terms of skills
- can analyze the results of research on the state of custody;
- is able to correctly diagnose the most important problems of the charge/ward using structured knowledge and select the means and methods of work for an individual case;
• in terms of social competences:
- is aware of the importance of complex knowledge and professional skills in the field of the work probation officer and understands the need for their constant development.
Assessment criteria
Passing conditions for the course:
- attendance
- active participation in classes (reading scientific texts, participation in discussions, exercises)
- review of test results and report
- passing written test
The final grade consists of:
- written test - max 50 points
- active participation during classes - max 15 points
- review of test results - max. 25 points
- review of report - max. 10 points
Scoring system - the maximum number of points you can score is 100
100-95 –grade 5.0; 94-88 - grade 4.5; 87-80 - grade 4.0; 79-70 - grade 3.5; 69-61 - grade 3.0; 60 and below - grade 2.0
Methods of verifying the learning outcomes:
LO KNOWLEDGE: written test;
LO SKILLS AND COMPETENCES: continuous assessment, preparation of review of test results and report.
