The goal of the subject is to introduce issues connected with widely understood social prevention and the forms of actions fulfilling requirements of the contemporary society. Among that
1.basic notions connected with social prevention
2.social prevention goals, levels and strategies
3.selected theories explaining aetiology and function of socially not accepted behaviours (risk factors theory and preventive factors and interactive idea of dysfunctional ehaviours)
4.selected models and examples of prevention activities
5.drawbacks and weak points of undertaken prevention activities
6.assumptions and standards of professional prevention, fulfilling requirements of the contemporary society
In the introduction part there are going to be presented essential issues connected with social prevention, among this, notion, connection with upbringing, notion of problematic prevention and the structure of prevention and correctional systems. Next, there are going to be discussed goals, levels and strategies of prevention, including strategies by Hansen and Gas. To understand these issues more profoundly there will be presentation of selected prevention programmes and examples of activities undertaken in specific units. There will also be shown evolution of approaches towards prevention and its current depiction fulfilling requirements set by social development. Emphasis will be put on the ability of accurate recognition of signs, aetiology and functions of socially not accepted behaviours based on selected, leading theories in the matter as well as adequate usage of prevention activities.

Having finished the process of learning, based on accumulated knowledge, a student:
• describes social prevention assumptions and their relations with education
• defines goals, levels and strategies of contemporary prevention
• describes mechanisms how contemporary prevention depiction is formed

Having finished the process of learning, a student has the following skills:
• makes a correct analysis of socially not accepted behaviours using theories of risk and protective factors and interactive theory of dysfunctional behaviours
• develops adequate prevention activities to pupil’s problems and needs of society
• adopts preventive projects to local and social environment

Having finished the process of learning, a student has the following personal and social competences:
• organizes a rational prevention activity, constituting a coherent system
• verifies prevention activities depending on the changing individual and social needs
• appreciate the importance of development of the prevention activities
