1. Person’s appearance (physical characteristics; canons of beauty in the past and today; beauty care, cosmetics; plastic surgery, the appearance of the man of success - politician, businessman, TV star; fashion; dress culture).
2. Person’s character. Types of temperament (features of character - advantages and disadvantages; types of temperament; zodiac signs and horoscopes; character shaping, personality development; the character of the nation, national stereotypes; characteristics of various social groups).
3. Human health. Names of body parts and internal organs. Well-being and health. Diseases and their symptoms. Health care system. Polyclinic. Names of medical specialties. A visit to the doctor, an ambulance call, outpatient and hospital treatment. Hospital, clinic. Medicines and treatments. Prophylaxis. Healthy lifestyle.
Grammar material:
I. Qualitative, relative and possessive adjectives.
1. Grammatical forms of hard and soft-stem adjectives of all three genders in singular and plural.
2. Undeclined adjectives.
3. Compound adjectives.
4. Hypocoristic forms of adjectives.
5. Degrees of comparison of adjectives.
6. Short forms of adjectives.

KNOWLEDGE
1. The student knows and understands the main relations and interdependence in the process of learning the language as well as the culture of given linguistic region
2. The student knows language devices enabling him/her to formulate phonetically, accentually and grammatically correct oral statements as well as formulate morphologically, syntactically and lexically correct written texts within the subjects discussed during the classes
3. The student knows and understands the rules of converting written text into oral statement and oral statement into written text
SKILLS
1. The student uses in his/her statements acquired vocabulary, collocations, set phrases, grammar constructions within the subjects expected by the program
2. The student can efficiently participate in the conversation and discussion on the subjects expected by the program
3. The student can work both individually and in group
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
1. The student is ready to acknowledge the importance of knowledge for developing his/her own interests related to the improvement of Russian
2. The student is ready to accepts a variety of attitudes, opinions and arguments in interpersonal relations
Assessment criteria
Assessment of the course:
- presence and active participation in classes,
- systematic preparation for the assigned material,
- preparing homeworks and control works on time,
- active participation in preparation for presentations, speeches, projects.
In order to obtain a credit the following criteria are taken into account:
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5,0 (very good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4,5 (good plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes not taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4,0 (good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3,0 (satisfactory)
- no achievement of the assumed learning outcomes - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)
The components of assessment:
- continuous assessment (the current preparation for classes and activities) - 30%
- control tests during the semester - 35%
- presentations, speeches, projects – 35%
Criteria for the assessment of written statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,
c/ composition,
d/ the length of work,
e/ richness of vocabulary,
f/ linguistic correctness.
Criteria for the assessment of oral statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ cohesion and fluency of speech,
c/ richness of vocabulary,
d/ linguistic correctness,
e/ correct pronunciation.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
