Learning of the Russian Language II 3202-S1ONJR12e
Lexical topics:
1. House, apartment, equipment and maintenance; guests and how they are treated (traditional Russian hospitality), shopping in local shops and supermarkets, names of dishes and products (including Russian cuisine.)
2. City - elements of its structure, orientation in urban space, means of urban transport. Daily life in Russian cities.
3. Studies, school, profession. The reform of education in Poland. Educational system in Russia (types of secondary and tertiary schools, state and private schools, organization of teaching processes in schools and universities, types of education, academic and didactic staff, student governments, academic associations, campuses and hostels, the largest universities in Poland and Russia (rankings).
Spelling issues:
Spelling rules of stressed and unstressed vowels in the root of the word, spelling of capital and small letters, spelling of prefixes and particles.
Grammar:
1. The use of compound verbal predicate in the sentences.
2. Types of subjects in the sentence.
3. The expressions of directions and places (из, из-под, из-за, куда, откуда).
4. The expressions of concession, prohibition, obligation.

1. The student knows language devices enabling him/her to formulate phonetically, morphologically, syntactically, lexically and grammatically correct elaborate oral and writing statements and knows how to use them in verbal communication

Assessment criteria
Assessment of the course:
- presence and active participation in classes,
- systematic preparation for the assigned material,
- preparing homeworks and control works on time,
- active participation in preparation for presentations, speeches, projects.
In order to obtain a credit the following criteria are taken into account:
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5,0 (very good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4,5 (good plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes not taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4,0 (good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3,0 (satisfactory)
- no achievement of the assumed learning outcomes - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)
The components of assessment:
- continuous assessment (the current preparation for classes and activities) - 30%
- control tests during the semester - 35%
- presentations, speeches, projects – 35%
Criteria for the assessment of written statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,
c/ composition,
d/ the length of work,
e/ richness of vocabulary,
f/ linguistic correctness.
Criteria for the assessment of oral statement:
a/ compliance of the statements with the topic,
b/ cohesion and fluency of speech,
c/ richness of vocabulary,
d/ linguistic correctness
e/ correct pronunciation.
The final exam includes the material of I and II semester. The final exam consists of written and oral parts:
- written part (test - 9 grammar and lexical tasks + 1 translation task, consisting of 10 sentences + essay to choose from three given topics)
criteria:
knowledge of grammatical, vocabulary and spelling structures:
test – 60% – 68% - 3 (satisfactory)
69% - 77% - 3+ (satisfactory plus)
78% - 86% - 4 (good)
87% - 95% - 4+ (good plus)
96% - 100% - 5 (very good)
essay/criteria:
a/ compliance with the topic,
b/ cohesion of the text
c/ lexical, grammatical and spelling correctness
- oral part (2 questions)/criteria:
a/ communicative efficiency (the student understands the interlocutor, adequately answers questions and formulates answers, is aware of the most important politeness conventions)
b/ fluency of statements
c/ correct use of grammatical structures
d/ usage of proper vocabulary
e/ correctness of pronunciation and intonation
The condition for passing the exam is passing its written and oral parts.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
Practical placement
No professional training within the subject.
