Exercises on intonation structures used in spoken language (declarative, interrogative and exclamatory sentences). Communicative aspects of the use of intonation structures.
Improvement of correct pronunciation by working on text (prose, poetry).
The impact of phonetic phenomena on spelling.
Methods of counteracting phonetic interference between the Polish and Russian languages.

KNOWLEDGE
1. The student knows and understands the complex nature of the Russian language relating to word rhythmics, phonetic phenomena and types of intonation structures expected by the program.
2. The student has basic knowledge of the phonetic differences between the Russian and Polish languages
SKILLS
1. The student is able to formulate phonetically correct statements in Russian with proper intonation to situation context
2. The student is able to make basic phonetic analysis of Russian text within the scope of all the course material expected by the program
3. The student uses methods of counteracting phonetic interference between the Polish and Russian languages
SOCIAL COMPETENCES
1. The student is ready to use new information in the right context as well as for creative thinking
2. The student is aware of the importance of correct pronunciation necessary for social relationships
Assessment criteria
Assessment of the course:
- presence and active participation in classes
- systematic preparation for the assigned material
- preparing homeworks and control works on time
In order to obtain a credit the following criteria are taken into account:
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects - 5,0 (very good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes covering all relevant aspects with a small number of errors or inaccuracies - 4,5 (good plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes not taking into account some (less important) aspects - 4,0 (good grade)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting some important aspects and with significant inaccuracies - 3,5 (satisfactory plus)
- achieving the assumed learning outcomes, omitting important aspects or with serious inaccuracies - 3,0 (satisfactory)
- no achievement of the assumed learning outcomes - 2,0 (unsatisfactory)
The components of assessment:
- continuous assessment (the current preparation for classes and activities) - 30%
- control tests during the semester in the form of dictations and tests - 35%
- final oral credit – 35%
Criteria for the assessment of written statement:
a/ both spelling and punctuation correctness,
b/ compliance of the statement with the required form,
c/ correct use of language devices.
Criteria for the assessment of oral statement:
a/ articulatory and word-stress correctness,
b/ cohesion and fluency of speech,
c/ linguistic correctness.
The student has the right to 2 unexcused absences, each subsequent one requires justification. The lecturer decides on the recognition of absence.
Exceeding excused and unexcused absences by 50% of classes may be grounds to fail the course. The conditions for passing the course on the resit exam are the same as on the ordinary of exam.
If it is not possible to conduct classroom classes, classes will be conducted using distance communication tools, most likely Google Classroom and others recommended by the University of Warsaw.
Practical placement
No professional training within the subject.
