Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
The student has systematic knowledge of music editing, knows the basic concepts related to the procedure of preparing a critical edition, and understands the methods of preparing a transcription of musical scores.
Skills:
The student has basic skills in developing a critical edition of musical texts and is able to apply them in the music notation software, especially the Sibelius software.
Social competences:
The student is able to plan work related to the subsequent stages of preparation of the edition and to take part in the critic of selected works in two-person work teams.
Assessment criteria
Students are obliged to participate in classes, including: a). participation in discussions on the issues raised, b). successive preparation of their semester papers and c). active involvement in the critic of other students' works. The basis for passing the exam is the preparation of a critical edition of a selected small musical composition and its development in: Sibelius software (editing the musical text) and Word (introduction and revision commentary); this work should be submitted for credit no later than the last class in the teaching cycle (12.06.2024). Two absences are allowed per semester.

Students work on laptops with Microsoft and Sibelius software provided by the Institute; for the duration of the classes, they also have a license for a second station (home computer), which they are obliged to deactivate at the end of the course series (12.06.2024). |
