The course demonstrates the application of Bach counterpoint in practice in a four-voice composition. The subject of the course is a study of the forms and techniques of Bach’s canon and fugue. The practical workshops will be preceded by a number of introductory classes dedicated to the development of the fugue concept in theoretical works.

Assessment criteria
In order to obtain credits, the student needs to compose one four-voice fugue in Bach’s style during the semester and obtain a positive mark for the final test.
