Rhetorical methods in practice: popular literature, fanfiction, translations and new literature 3007-C453ER1
The seminar aims to provide participants with tools and opportunities to conduct their own scientific research, culminating in the writing of a bachelor's thesis. It will focus on methods of rhetorical criticism, taking into account new research directions. The classes will be conducted on the basis of research-based learning: participants will carry out their own small research projects, and the role of the supervisor will be to advise, discuss, and involve seminar participants in larger research projects.
Participants will have very broad possibilities in choosing the topic and object of research (as well as bachelor's theses). Suggested research topics include:
analysis of translations, translation rhetoric, bilingual texts
fanfiction, "prosumer" literature
popular literature (especially fantasy, crime fiction, literature for children and young adults)
literature, digital texts, applications, etc., related to place (tourist guides, city histories, residents' memories)
However, presenting one's own, different research topics is possible - as long as rhetorical criticism methods are used for them.
