Basics of Intellectual Property Protection 3006-WLAINT-IFK

A lecture The Protection of the Intellectual Property Rights presents how the protection of the intellectual property takes effect in Poland in favour of legal owners. In the first place copyright is analysed during the lecture, then the patent right, trademarks, industrial design marks are characterized.
In accordance with the acts (Copyright, Law of Industrial Property) students are informed how to acquire intellectual property rights, dispose them (transfering by assigment, license etc.) and eventually how to protect them from an infringement, sometimes with help of the public institutions: the Polsih Patent Office or courts. The lecture also describes situations and activities which lead to an infringement of the intellectual property rights. Futhermore, it shows that the facts of infringement are handled under civil law but several jurisdictions incorporate criminal penalties including incarceration and fines. The lecture is especially focused on the policy on the intellectual property rights in the higher education institutions e.g consequences of infringement of the intellectual property laws (for example plagiarism), agreements with a publisher. In addition, during the lecture the problem of copyright on Internet is presented.
