Latin Class 3006-PNJŁ1-Z
The classes are aimed at preparing students to read original texts of medium and high difficulty. The first semester is devoted to repeating, supplementing, systematizing students’ knowledge about Latin morphology and the basic problems of syntax. Then the functions of cases, syntax of subordinate clauses, the most important rules of reported speech are presented. The students also learn the basic rules of Latin metrics, repeat and suplement their knowledge about stylistic trops.
Repeating old and introducing new questions are followed by reading of original texts (Ceasar, Nepos, Cicero, Ovidius etc.)

The student:
In the range of knowledge
– knows the history and development of Latin
– knows the Latin grammar and vocabulary on a basic level
In the range of abbilities
– reads and translates Latin texts of the basic and medium difficulty
– recognizes basic metric measures of the Latin poetry
In the range of social competences
– describes the level of their own knowledge and abilities, understands the need of constant studing and self-development.
Assessment criteria
- the constant appraisal (current preparing to the classes and activity during them) – 40%
- written tests during semesters – 25 %
- the final written test – 35%
The final written text can be taken after passing of all earlier tests. The student is entitled to retake a written test twice. Not taking an exam at the first exam date without an excuse causes a loss of it.
Presence control allows to miss the classes three times without excuse
