History of the Russian empire XVIII century 2900-MK1-DIR-KL
The course includes the political history of Russia in 18th century. First, the creation of the Empire of Peter I with particular emphasis on the international situation, but also the modernization project. Then weakness in the so-called era of "court of storms", and finally further development in the time of Catherine II. We will discussed Russia's role in key events for Europe: the Northern War, the war of the polish succession, Russian-Turkish wars, the Seven Years War, the participation in partitions of Poland, in French Revolution. With internal problems will be presented the modernization of the state administration, the evolution of social relations, selected socio-economic issues (Cossack, folk rebellions, foreign settlement), matters of creating opinion about Russia in the West (for exemple the relationships of Catherine II with luminaries of the Enlightenment).
